Box Score WILSON, N.C.—The Mercyhurst baseball earned a comeback win over Saint Anselm 6-5 on Saturday giving the Lakers a perfect 4-0 weekend in N.C.
In the first, Saint Anselm was able to get on the board first after a two run blast. The Lakers would then answer in the second with
Kenny Robinson single scoring
Matthew Gibson after he hit a double. Saint Anselm would hold the 2-1 lead into the fifth before tacking on another run off a sac fly making it 3-1.
Then in the sixth, the hawks would load the bases twice but would only score off of a wild pitch and a single making it 5-1. Going into the seventh, MU would finally respond with
Alex O'Donnell scoring
Luke Baranchak (singled) and Dom DeRenzo (walked) making the score 5-3. Later in the same inning,
Dominic Cecere would score O'Donell off a single while Matt Schneider would later score on a past ball knotting the score up at five all.
In the final inning, Cecere reached base on a walk with then a Gibson double. The Lakers had guys on third and second before the Hawks intentional walked Robinson loading the bases. DeRenzo then answered after the walk with a sac fly to center scoring Cecere to win the game 6-5.
Winning pitcher was
Adam Jeannette with 3.2 innings pitched, one strikeout, two hits, and zero earned runs.
