ITAHACA, N.Y. -- The Mercyhurst rowing teams rounded out their fall season Saturday at the Cornell Autumn Classic hosted on the Cayuga Lake. 

"Cornell were great hosts and the competition was excellent," said Director of Rowing Adrian Spraklen. "It was a nice way to end our fall season and sets us up for the work we need to accomplish over the winter if we are to achieve our goals in the spring." 

The Lakers put 10 boats into the regatta which featured two flights in every event featuring a 3 km race and a 300 m sprint. The sprint time was multiplied by three and added to the 3 km time for the final time. 

Mercyhurst picked up a pair of top five finishes with the M2V8+ boat posting a time of 11:56.27 to grab a second-place finish and the MF8+ crew finishing third with a final time of 12:11.25. 

The duo of Mitchell Ott and Jakob Mathieu posted a time of 13:39.56 final time to grab a sixth-place finish. With a time of 11:29.77, the MV8+ team also finished in sixth in a field of 22 boats. Also in that race, the Lakers second boat finished with a time of 12:27.15. 

The M4+ crew added an eighth-place finish in a time of 12:45.27. The Flight 2 M4+ finished in a time of 14:43.03 to earn a seventh-place finish. 

The Lakers entered a pair of boats in the W4+ race with the top boat posting a time of 15:38 good for ninth and the second boat right behind in 10th with a time of 16:59.90. 

The final boat entered by the Lakers was the WV8+ which finished in 10th with a time of 14:39.38. 

Mercyhurst has completed their fall season and will begin preparations for the spring.
