SALEM, W. Va. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team fell 16-14 in overtime to Gannon and 21-7 to Salem in Day One of the CWPA Division II Championships.

Gannon 16, Mercyhurst 14
Michael Gutman and
Daniel Alvarez had five points each for Mercyhurst while
Ryan Witoslawski had four points.
Alex Cappuccio,
Mathieu Davis and
Paul Goddard had two points each and single points were earned by
Matthew Virzi,
Dylan Shaffer,
Joel Parnell,
Jonathan Merkley and
Nash Greeven.

In net, Greeven made 11 saves and had two steals.

For Gannon, Jack Donnelly lead the way with seven points. Drago Marjanpvic has five points, Thomas Squeglia had four points, Riley Hinkley recorded three points, Robert Bolmanski and Anthony Squeglia had two points and Ethan Hamp and Jacob Hollo tallied one point each.

In net, Hollo made 15 saves and had two steals.

Salem 21, Mercyhurst 7
Witoslawski had three points while two points were earned by
Reed Bearden,
Nebyat Mamo, Alaverz and Davis.
Teagan Thomas,
Conor Cross Duncan and Goddard had one point each.

In net, Greeven made seven saves for the Lakers.

For Salem,
Michael Rojas had nine points. Petar Leontijevic had six points. Miols Popoviv and Robert Juhas scored five points each. Julen Alonso tallied four points, Manuel Soto Eatela had three point, Nephtali Rivera recorded two points and Saequan Miller and Adam Hudson had one point each.

In net, Alonso made 18 saves and had four steals.
