BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Mercyhurst women's water polo team went winless in four games this past weekend at the Indiana University Classic.
Mercyhurst's record drops to 4-5 on the season.

Mercyhurst 2, VMI 8
The Lakers lost their second game of the season to the Virginia Military Institute by a six-point margin to begin the tournament.
Chloe Kunst was the lone goal scorer for the Lakers with two scores on four shots.
Nicki Borella had an assist for Mercyhurst while
Jennifer Moshinsky had a team-high five shots on goal.
The first quarter was played to a scoreless draw before Kunst scored the first goal of the game with 7:27 to play in the second quarter. Kunst added her second with 22 seconds remaining before the half.
VMI rallied to score five of its eight scores in the second half while holding the Lakers scoreless.
Sarah O'Keefe made nine saves on 17 shots on goal.
Mercyhurst 5, Cal Lutheran 7
The Lakers built a lead against Cal Lutheran but saw it slip away in the fourth quarter to lose by a two-goal margin.
Mercyhurst took a 5-4 lead with 29 seconds remaining in the third period on
Sarah Hershey's score, but Cal Lutheran scored three unanswered in the fourth quarter to pick up the win.
The Lakers ended up with five different goal scorers: Hershey,
Rachel Byrnes, Moshinsky,
Cristal Maldonado, and
Erin Glass. Four of those scorers with the exception of Maldonado also tied the team lead in steals with 2.
Mercyhurst held Cal Lutheren's power play to 1-of-9, but only mustered one goal on the player advantage on its five tries.
Mercyhurst 2, Santa Clara 8
The Lakers were held without a score until the third period in a six-goal loss to Santa Clara Sunday morning.
Just like Saturday's VMI game, Kunst was the only Laker to score with both of her goals coming in the third quarter.
Mackenzie Ryburn added an assist while Hershey led the Lakers defensively with four assists.
Although Santa Clara had more power-play chances (7-4) and penalty shot attempts (3-0) than Mercyhurst, the Lakers did a solid job only allowed two special teams goals.
Santa Clara doubled up the Lakers in shots 34-17, but O'Keefe had a big game in net with 15 saves.
Mercyhurst 2, Hartwick 14
The Lakers toughest defeat of the weekend came in its final game in a 12-goal loss to Hartwick.
Kunst and Mason Feldsein picked up a score each for the Lakers. Kunst had a team-high five shots while Maldonado drew five exclusions and added three steals.
Hartwick got off to a fast start by scoring the game's first goals before the Lakers got on the board with 37 seconds left in the first. Hartwick led 10-1 entering the half.
Mercyhurst converted on 2-of-20 (.100) shots and 1-of-9 power plays while Hartwick went 14-for-24 on shots (.583) and 5-of-11 on the player advantage.
The Lakers will face off against Hartwick and a pair of other squads in its next game action on March 17 at the Hartwick Open in Oneota, N.Y.
