NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team defeated Connecticut 14-5 before falling to Gannon 20-6 on Saturday at the Lott Natatorium.

The Lakers (12-8, 4-1 MAWPC) are back in action Sunday at 9 a.m. against Salem.

Mercyhurst 14, Connecticut 5
Ryan Witoslawski led the way for Mercyhurst with four goals and two assists. Close behind him were
Alex Cappuccio and
Daniel Alvarez with three goals and one assist each.
Philip Jenny scored two goals while
Connor Schmitz and
Matt Bachler had one goal and two assists each.

Shaquille Mitchell,
Alec Diaz and
Noah Ratliff each picked up one assist.

In net,
Nash Greeven made eight saves for the Lakers.

John Krill recorded three goals and an assist while Mike Gertski and Sean King both had one goal. Ulas Cini picked up one assist for Connecticut (4-17, 2-3 MAWPC).

Danny Meisel made six saves in net.

Jenny had two goals while Schmitz, Alvarez,
Otis Tyson and
Andrew Howe each had one goal. Bachler tallied two assists while single assists were credited to
Michael Gutman and Alvarez.

In net, Greeven made eight saves and had one steal.

Zarko Sadikovic led the way for Gannon with nine goals and three assists. Riley Hinkley scored three goals, Thomas Squeglia, John Vieira and Tony Squeglia tallied two goals and Jake Rehrer and David Gallion picked up one goal. Thomas Squeglia also had three assists while Tony Squeglia also added two assists.

Robert Bolmanski added three assists, Tim Baer had two assists and single assists were given to Lucas Petzold and Brett Rhrer.

Brett Rehrer made 18 saves in net while Nate Winkler had two saves for Gannon (18-0, 5-0 MAWPC).
