Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Slippery Rock during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.
Connor Wilkinson scored the lone goal for the Lakers while
Martin Jarc made three saves in net.
Anthony Werth got Slippery Rock (6-8-2, 4-4-1 PSAC) on the board in the 18th minute with an assist from Cory Olix.
In the 59th minute, Mercyhurst (6-6-2, 3-4-2 PSAC) scored an own goal off of a Slippery Rock corner kick to give The Rock a 2-0 lead.
Wilkinson scored during the 80th minute to cut Slippery Rock's lead to 2-1, but it wasn't enough.
Winning goaltender Matt Hunsberger made seven saves for Slippery Rock.
Mercyhurst held a 20-10 shot advantage. The two teams were even in corner kicks with seven.
The Lakers are back in action at home against Shippensburg on Oct. 20. Game starts at 1 p.m.
