LEBANON, Ill. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team suffered two losses at the CWPA Division II Championships on Saturday. The Lakers fell 12-9 to McKendree before losing 17-15 to Salem.
 
Mercyhurst (11-6) takes on Gannon Sunday at 10 a.m.
 
McKendree 12, Mercyhurst 9
Daniel Alvarez recorded two goals and two assists while Connor Schmitz, Philip Jenny and Brennan Russell recorded two goals apiece. Shaquille Mitchell was credited with a single goal.
 
Alex Diaz had two assists while Alex Cappuccio and Ryan Witoslawski tallied one assist each.
 
Nash Greeven made six saves in net for the Lakers.
 
Joseph Mahan led the way for McKendree with five goals. Matt Haygood recorded three goals and one assist. Single goals were credited to Izaya Owotor, Ben Brauer, Jackson Spencer and Tony Sunagawa.
 
Nico Rodriguez, Michael Krause, Aaron Jacobs and Brauer had one assist.
 
Winning goaltender Ori Scanlon made 13 saves in net for McKendree (8-10)
 
Salem 17, Mercyhurst 15
Schmitz tallied four goals while Witoslawski, Jenny and Russell each had two goals. Single goals were earned by Jackson Rehmet, Alvarez, Mitchell, Bachler and Greeven.
 
Bachler had three assists while Jenny and Russell had two apiece. Ryan Mercando, Greeven, Rehment, Diaz and Alvarez added one assist each.
 
Greeven made seven saves in net and had three steals for Mercyhurst.
 
Milos Popovic and Mike Diaz recorded four goals each for Salem. Salvador Orozco, Inigo Velasco and Uros Jevtic added three goals each.
 
Velasco had three assists, followed by Jevtic with two assists. Alvaro Leon Parra, Austin Kephart, Robert Juhas. Mateo Kozomara, Popovic, Diaz and Orozco had one assist.
 
Kozomara made six saves in net and added one steal for Salem. (6-10)
