WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won all three of its games over the weekend at Washington & Jefferson. The Lakers (4-4) beat Connecticut College and La Salle Saturday before beating the host W&J Sunday. All three games were official Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference games.

Mercyhurst 18, Connecticut College 13
The Lakers began the weekend by taking down CC by five Saturday morning and scoring a season-high 18 goals in the process. The win marks Mercyhurst's third-straight win over the Camels dating back to last year.
The Lakers had a balanced attack offensively in the game with ten different players scoring at least one goal.
Alex Cappuccio led the way with three goals all scored in the first half.
The Lakers scored first and never gave up the lead. Mercyhurst outscored CC in every quarter and drew 11 exclusions to their opponent's 5.
Mercyhurst 16, La Salle 8
Mercyhurst followed up its first win of the weekend by doubling La Salle's score in game two. The Lakers continued their balanced offensive attack with nine different players scoring at least one goal.
John Reyes and
Philip Jenny led the team with three goals and an assist each. Reyes also had three drawn exclusions.
The Lakers had a much better time converting their scoring chances with a .457 shooting percentage (16-for-35) to La Salle's .267 (8-for-30).
After a 2-2 first quarter, Mercyhurst outscored the Explorers 14-6 in the last three quarters.
Mercyhurst 16, W&J 9
Mercyhurst concluded the weekend with a seven-point win over the host Presidents on Sunday afternoon. The last time the Lakers scored double-digit goals in three straight games was the Western Division Championships last November.
Three Lakers scored at least three goals each.
Connor Schmitz and Ryan Witoslawski had four goals apiece while
Daniel Alvarez added three. Witoslawski fired a game-high seven shots.
Alvarez won all three of his sprints, bringing his weekend sprint total to 8-1.
After leading 6-3 at the half, the Lakers pulled away with a 5-1 third quarter. Despite going 1-for-9 on the power play, Mercyhurst had a .410 shooting percentage (16-for-39).
Mercyhurst stays in town next weekend, Sept. 29-30 but will take Gannon and Penn State Behrend at their home pools before returning home to host Mt. San Antonio at home.
