ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team hosted the Laker Invitational September 8-10 at the Prep-Villa Events Center. The Lakers ended up playing five total games, winning three and dropping two.
Two of the Lakers' wins were exhibition games. The Lakers beat Cerritos College 9-6 Friday night and Lindenwood's "B" team 11-8 Saturday evening.

Lindenwood 14, Mercyhurst 11
The Lakers lost to Lindenwood's "A" team be three on Saturday afternoon despite a five-goal effort from
Philip Jenny.
Jenny was the only Laker to score multiple goals in the game with six other Lakers scoring once.
Matt Bachler led Mercyhurst with three assists.
The game was tied at five going in to halftime, but it was the third quarter that put the Lakers behind. The Lions outscored Mercyhurst 6-1 in the third, including scoring five straight.
Mercyhurst converted on four-of-nine power play chances. Lindenwood held a .359 shooting percentage (14-for39) to Mercyhurst's .333 (11-for-33).
Salem International 13, Mercyhurst 6
Mercyhurst struggled in its first game on Sunday dropping a seven-point decision to the Salem International Tigers.
Six different Lakers each scored a goal: Jenny,
Connor Schmitz,
Alec Diaz,
Ryan Witoslawski,
Jonathan Merkley and
Jackson Rehmet. As a team, the Lakers shot 6-for-24 (.250) compared to the Tigers' 13-for-30 (.433).
The Lakers also struggled to convert on power play tries, scoring on just 2-of-12 chances.
Andrew Too-A-Foo led the Lakers with five steals and added eight saves for a .381 save percentage.
Mercyhurst 10, Penn State Behrend 5
Mercyhurst pulled off its first official win of the season in a five-point victory over Penn State Behrend Sunday afternoon.
The Lakers pulled away with a 5-1 run from late in the second quarter to late in the third quarter. During the run, Witosklawski scored his two goals for the game.
Daniel Alvarez led the Lakers with three.
Mercyhurst outshot the Lions 44-27 and did not allow the Lions to score on eight power plays.
Alec Diaz and Too-A-Foo each tied the team lead with four steals each.
