ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team struggled in its opening game of the the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship, dropping 15-4 to top-seeded Bucknell in its first round matchup Friday afternoon.
The Lakers (11-11) were at the mercy of a 12-goal run by Bucknell (18-11) from the first to third quarter. Rade Joksimovic controlled the game for the Bison, scoring nine goals on ten shot attempts.
Mercyhurst had four different goal scorers:
Daniel Alvarez,
Matt Bachler,
Connor Schmitz, and
Ryan Witoslawski. Alvarez and Bachler also had assists to tie for the team lead with two points.
The Lakers face host Navy in the second round Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The Midshipmen lost their opening round match 9-8 to Wagner.
