LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team concluded play at the Bucknell Bison Invitational unable to collect a win in their final two games against Brown (16-3) and St. Francis-Brooklyn (11-5).
Mercyhurst 3 – Brown 16
Mercyhurst lost its third game of the weekend to Brown 16-3. Another fast start by an opponent put the Lakers behind, as Brown led 5-1 after the first quarter.
Matt Bachler scored the lone goal for Mercyhurst in the quarter.
Brown continued its offensive success in the second quarter leading 9-2 at the halftime break. In the second half, the Lakers managed just one more goal while giving up seven, losing the game 16-3.
Philip Jenny and
Noah Ratliff joined Bachler as the Lakers' goal-scorers.
Mercyhurst 5 – St. Francis-Brooklyn 11
The Lakers dropped their weekend finale to St. Francis-Brooklyn 11-5 on Sunday afternoon. Once again, the Lakers couldn't overcome another good start from an opponent. St. Francis jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and held the Lakers scoreless until the second frame.

Noah Ratliff, and
Joey Ryan each scored in the second quarter for Mercyhurst, but St. Francis also scored three in the frame and owned a 6-3 lead entering halftime.
St. Francis showed consistency by scoring three goals again in the third period and holding the Lakers scoreless. After taking a 9-3 lead into the final period, both teams notched two goals in the fourth quarter, resulting in the 11-5 final score.
Philip Jenny and Ryan Witosklawski scored the Laker goals in the final frame.
Mercyhurst (3-5) will look to end its five-game skid when the team begins its Collegiate Water Polo Association Western Division schedule next weekend on Sept. 24-25 at Salem International University in Salem, W.V.
