BLOOMINGTON, IN – The Mercyhurst University women's water polo team dropped a 10-4 decision Sunday afternoon against California State East Bay Sunday afternoon to conclude play at the Fluid Five Invite hosted by Indiana University.
The Lakers (4-9) were unable to overcome an early 3-1 deficit after the first period of play, while both teams added two goals in the second, giving the Pioneers a 5-3 halftime advantage.
Mercyhurst would only generate one goal in the second half, as Cal State East Bay posted a five spot in the final two periods, en route to their 12th win of the season.
Kennedy Watson and
Becky Insalaco each recorded two goals and two steals for the Lakers, while
Aleeyse Utech dished out three assists and also came away with a steal. Mercyhurst netminder
Jesse Sworden saved 10 shots and posted three steals.
The Lakers will make the short trip to Penn State Behrend Thursday, March 26. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
