CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University women's tennis team ran into a perennially-tough California University of Pennsylvania squad Friday, bowing to the Vulcans 7-2. The Lakers fell to 12-3 overall and to 4-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) while Cal improved to 11-3 and 5-0 on the season.
The Lakers had won four straight and 35 of the 36 matches in victories over Edinboro, Clarion, Seton Hill, and Davis & Elkins.
The Lakers lost all three doubles matches and won two-of-six singles contests.

Saioa Gomez de Segura and
Adina Spahalic picked up the Mercyhurst wins with each needing three sets to claim their victories.
Mercyhurst will return to action Saturday, April 18 when it travels to Grove city. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
