BRONX, NY – The Mercyhurst University men's water polo team went 1-1 on Saturday in a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) crossover hosted by Fordham University. The Lakers are now 10-5 overall.
In the first match Saturday morning, Mercyhurst stretched its winning streak to ten with a 9-7 victory over Iona (3-10). Junior

Alec Diaz recorded hat tricks, freshman
Matt Bachler scored twice, and senior
Dave Matulis added a single tally. Bachler assisted twice while senior
Jordan Hodur, freshman
Ivan Ariza, and Howe had other helpers.
The Lakers led 3-2 after a quarter, 5-3 at intermission, and 7-4 after three.

Andrew Too-A-Foo totaled seven saves.
Host Fordham then snapped the Lakers' winning streak, 10-6, on Saturday afternoon. Mercyhurst led 3-2 after a quarter, but Fordham blanked the Lakers in the second to take a 5-3 lead at intermission. Fordham increased its margin to 8-5 after three before settling for the four-goal win.
Howe and Matulis scored two goals apiece while Bachler and freshman
Otis Tyson had the other scores. It was Tyson's first collegiate goal. Howe (2) and Diaz (1) had the assists. Too-A-Foo recorded seven saves and six steals.
Mercyhurst will play at Bucknell on Sunday, November 1, at 1:00 p.m.
