Men's Water Polo Prepares for Trio of Games; Plays at Behrend Friday at 6:30 pm

Alex Strong has been one of the team's leading scorers in 2014.
ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team is in action three times this weekend. It plays at Penn State Behrend on Friday, September 26, at 6:30 p.m. The following day, the Lakers play at Washington and Jefferson at noon and then at Salem International at 8:30 p.m.
 
The Lakers are coming off a 16-8 win over Monmouth on Sunday. Shaquille Mitchell registered a hat trick in the victory. Jack Howe paces Mercyhurst with 18 points and 10 steals this season. Alex Strong has added 10 goals and Joe Yamamoto has recorded eight assists. Gene Bilbao, Kevin Doyle, and Andrew Too-A-Foo have shared time in goal, totaling 81 saves between them.
 
Behrend is 1-4 this season. Justin Vink leads the Lions with eight goals, while Nic Pabich and Carson Williamson have each scored six times. Ty Elder has made 49 saves in net.
 
W&J has a 5-4 record, including wins over Monmouth and Salem last weekend. Kevin Dunigan has scored nine goals and Mike Magdic and Carl Krause have eight apiece. Chris DeNunzio is allowing 11.5 goals per game and has posted 35 saves.
 
Salem International split two contests last weekend, beating Monmouth before falling to Washington and Jefferson. The Tigers' other win this year came over Behrend on September 13. Djordje Stavrevski leads SIU with 21 goals. Kristopher Arnold has totaled 59 saves in goal.
