Women's Lacrosse Announces Addition of Seven Newcomers

The Lakers will have seven freshmen on this season's roster.
ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team has announced the addition of seven newcomers for the 2015 season. Kristin Anderson, Bella Corieri, Lexi Doherty, Grace Lawson, Megan Lyons, Libby Montanye, and Rebecca Whitehead will join the Lakers' program, starting this fall.
 
Anderson is a Manorville, New York, native. The 6-2 midfielder played lacrosse and basketball at Eastport South Manor. She was chosen All-Tournament and won her team's Unsung Hero Award as a junior.
 
Corieri is a 5-7 goalkeeper from Brewerton, New York. She helped Christian Brother's Academy win the 2013 New York State Class B Championship.
 
Doherty is a 5-7 midfielder. The Oakville, Ontario, native, won the 2014 Everest Academy Female Varsity Athlete of the Year Award.
 
Lawson is a Buffalo, New York, native. The 5-4 midfielder/attack played lacrosse and soccer at Amherst Central High. She helped her team win three sectional titles while earning All-WNY honors a senior.
 
Lyons is a 5-6 midfielder from Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She played lacrosse, cross country, and soccer at Kenston High. She was selected 2012 All-Northeast Ohio Region Honorable Mention.
 
Montanye is a 5-7 midfielder from Baltimore, Maryland. She was a team captain at Franklin High twice and earned All-Division honors in 2012.
 
Whitehead is a native of Schamburg, Illinois. The 5-6 goalkeeper played lacrosse and golf at Schaumburg High. She participated for Team USA in international competition for AIST.
 
Mercyhurst went 16-3 last season, sharing the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) regular season title and advancing to the PSAC Tournament Championship.
