ERIE, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Mercyhurst University women's hockey team entertains Lindenwood University for the final home series of the regular season. Game one is set for Friday, February 21 at 3:00 p.m. and the series will conclude on Saturday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday will also mark the Lakers annual "Senior Day" festivities where seniors 
Christine Bestland, 
Kaleigh Chippy and 
Christie Cicero will be recognized for their efforts with the Mercyhurst program. There will also be the announcement of the Bill Smith Award recipient, given to a senior women's hockey player who exhibits exemplary qualities in the classroom, community, and on the ice.
The Lakers improved to 21-7-3 on the season and recently captured their 13
th consecutive College Hockey America regular season title with a record of 14-3-1 after sweeping Penn State. The sweep also marked the Lakers 13
th consecutive 20-win season and 14
th in the school's 15-year history. Heading into the weekend the Lakers are on a seven-game winning streak.
In the national statistics, the Lakers have three players in the top 25 in points per game, three Lakers in goals per game, and four different Lakers in the top 25 in assists per game. The most notable is senior 
Christine Bestland who is first in shorthanded goals this season (4), third in assists per game (0.97) and sixth in points per game (1.52). In total, Bestland leads the squad with 46 points on 17 goals and 29 assists.
Lindenwood holds a record of 5-23-2 overall this season and is 5-12-1 in the CHA. They are currently in fifth place in the CHA rankings with 11 points and are nine points behind RIT. Lindenwood fell twice to Syracuse University (5-2; 2-1) despite leading game-two 1-0 heading into the third period. Before the loss against Syracuse, the Lady Lions held a three game-winning streak which marked the longest since joining NCAA Division I. Caitlyn Post and Katie Erickson each had a goal in the series earlier this season against the Mercyhurst Lakers.
Mercyhurst has a 10-0-0 all-time advantage against Lindenwood including a road sweep for the Lakers back in December. During that series seven different Lakers collected three or more points against the Lions in the 7-1 and 4-1 wins. Specials teams were solid during the two game series as the Lakers scored two short-handed goals and killed 11 of the 12 (91%) power-play opportunities for Lindenwood. The Lakers went 3 for 8 on their power-play (37%).
