PRINCETON, N.J.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team fell, 14-12, to Gannon at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Championships Sunday afternoon. The Lakers finished eighth at the event, hosted by Princeton University.

Mercyhurst went down, 4-3, after a quarter and trailed, 8-7, at the half. The Lakers came up with four goals in the third to go ahead, 11-9, but the Golden Knights rallied in the fourth frame and picked up the victory.

Alex Strong led with four goals and two assists.
Jordan Hodur posted a goal and three helpers, while
Samuel Lopez and
Joe Yamamoto each put up a goal and two assists.
Christian Dudley and
Gavin Oakley added two goals apiece and
Joey Ryan scored once.
Kevin Doyle tallied five saves in net.

The Lakers have 15-13 in 2014, recording their nine consecutive winning season. They remain alive for an at-large bid for the CWPA Championships in two weeks. At-large bids will be announced on Monday.
