PRINCETON, N.J.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team fell, 19-9, to Navy in the first round of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Championships at Princeton University.
 
The Midshipmen took a 7-2 advantage after one quarter. They went ahead, 12-5, at halftime and then led, 17-8, through three.
 
Dave Matulis led with two goals. Joey Ryan posted a goal and three assists, while Samuel Lopez, Joe Yamamoto, and Jack Howe each put up a goal and a helper. Shaquille Mitchell, Gavin Oakley, and Jordan Hodur added a goal apiece. Andrew Too-A-Foo tallied eight saves and four steals in net.
 
The Lakers (14-11) continue action at Southerns, facing Penn State Behrend tomorrow at 12:45 p.m.
