ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won, 15-14, at Gannon Friday night.
Dave Matulis scored the game-winning goal with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter at Carneval Athletic Pavilion.

The Lakers rallied from a one-goal deficit after three quarters to pick up the victory. Trailing, 14-13, midway through the fourth frame,
Alex Strong tied the match with less than three minutes remaining. Matulis followed with the go-ahead goal a minute later.
Gene Bilbao then protected the Mercyhurst edge with a pair of saves in the final minute, allowing the Lakers to escape with the win.

Matulis finished with four goals.
Joe Yamamoto posted a hat trick, while Strong,
Samuel Lopez, and
Jordan Hodur each scored twice.
Joey Ryan dished out three assists. Strong and Lopez each added a pair of helpers. Bilbao made three saves and put up an assist and a steal in the fourth period.
Kevin Doyle and
Andrew Too-A-Foo combined for six saves and two steals in the first three quarters.

Mercyhurst improved to 10-10 on the season. It hosts Monmouth tomorrow in the home opener. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start at the North East Aquatic Center.Â
