CLAREMONT, Calif.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team dropped a 12-7 decision at Pomona-Pitzer Friday night.
Dave Matulis led with a hat trick in the defeat.
The Lakers trailed, 3-2, after a quarter and then fell behind, 7-3, at halftime. Four Pomona goals in the third frame allowed the hosts to pull away for the win.
Matulis finished with three goals.
Alex Strong,
Joe Yamamoto,
Christian Dudley, and
Shaquille Mitchell each scored once.
Andrew Too-A-Foo posted nine saves in three periods, while
Kevin Doyle made three saves in one quarter of action.
Mercyhurst plays twice on Saturday, facing Chaffey and Occidental.
