ERIE, Pa. – The nineteenth ranked Mercyhurst University men's soccer team fell to Millersville by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Lakers fell to 6-3-0 overall and suffered their first loss (3-1-0) in the PSAC.
The first goals from both teams were scored within the first 20 minutes into the match, with the Lakers scoring the first goal.

Danny Deakin tallied the first goal after beating the Marauders goaltender to the bottom left corner of the net. Junior
Fernando Martinez had the assist at the 11:42 mark.
Almost three minutes later, Millersville got the equalizer from a corner kick opportunity. Christopher Sosa headed the ball in from Ben Johnston's centering pass.
The Lakers were outshot five to two in the first half. Mercyhurst was on the attack for much of the second half, generating 12 shots to the Marauders ten. However, the Lakers could not break through Millersville goaltender Brad Benzing.
At the 60:04 mark into the match, Millersville's Ben Johnston scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick.
Senior
Mikko Sarkkinen (6-3-0) suffered the loss in net for Mercyhurst after making three saves on five shots. Benzing got the win after allowing just one goal on six saves.
The Lakers head to Bloomsburg University on October 5. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
