ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's water polo team heads to the University of Michigan for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship this weekend. The ninth-seeded Lakers face Bucknell on Friday, April 26, to open action at the event. All matches will be held at Canham Natatorium.

Mercyhurst plays Bucknell, the eight seed, at 10 a.m. on Friday. The winner advances to play top-seeded Indiana at 3:20 p.m. The loser will play the loser of the Brown-Connecticut contest at noon on Saturday.
Coach
Curtis Robinette's squad is 14-14 this season, including a second-place finish at the CWPA Division II Eastern Championship last weekend.
Lisett Calderon and
Cailin Jope were both named to the all-tournament team. Calderon has scored 55 goals and dished out a team-high 33 assists this season. Jope has recorded 41 goals and 23 helpers.
Bucknell has a 6-17 mark this year. It has not played since April 14, when the Bison took a 9-4 decision over Mercyhurst at the CWPA Southern Championships at Brown University. Julianne Valdes paces the team with 42 points, including 30 goals. Hannah Sunday has scored a team-high 32 goals and Krystie Morgan has tallied 29 scores. Rena Heim has started all 23 games in goal, making 217 saves in 2013.
In 2012, the Lakers placed 10
th at Easterns.
