CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst University women's tennis team closed out a weekend road trip in less-than-stellar fashion, as they were shut out by the #16 California (Pa.) Vulcans.  The loss dropped the Lakers' record to 12-3.

Only one doubles match was able to be completed, as Rebecca Haener and Courtney Thompson fell to Ramona Czakon and Alexandra Borgenhoff (#21 on ITA's D-II Women's Doubles List) 8-3 in the No. 2 match.  The Vulcans would go on to sweep all six singles matches, giving Caroline Bristol her first singles loss since April 3, 2012 when she fell to the Vulcan's Martina Rubesova.  Taylor Wedlake came the closest to picking up a win for Mercyhurst during her No. 5 match, but was ultimately defeated 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 by Jade Pondicas.

The Lakers will close out the home schedule on Sunday, April 7, as they host the Daemen Wildcats in a 1 pm match.
