ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's water polo team will play two games at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, March 9. The Lakers play W&J at 11 a.m. and then take on Grove City College at 3 p.m.
Mercyhurst is 5-6 this season. It remained ninth in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) poll.
Lisett Calderon leads the team with 26 goals, 13 assists, and 33 drawn ejections.
Cailin Jope has 17 goals and 13 assists.
Jesse Sworden has made 112 saves in 11 games in net.
Washington & Jefferson is 0-6 in 2013, having lost to VMI and Gannon last weekend. They have played some tough competition, including losses to national powers Michigan and Indiana. Allison Rocha and Margot Wummer each have six goals to lead the Presidents.
Grove City opened its season last weekend at home, defeating W&J and Penn State Behrend. The Wolverines are coached by former Laker standout Rachel Griepsma, who graduated from Mercyhurst in 2011. They won 18 games last season and won the CWPA Division III title.
