ERIE, Pa.- The ninth-ranked Mercyhurst women's water polo team will play three games in the Bison Invitational February 15-16. The Lakers will play #5 Bucknell, Wagner and #4 Hartwick this weekend in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
Mercyhurst started its season with two wins last weekend. It beat Salem International, 11-2, and then won, 14-6, over VMI.
Lisett Calderon scored eight goals in the victory over the Keydets.
Bucknell will open its season against the Lakers on Friday at 7 p.m. The Bison had their first tournament of the season cancelled due to weather. They went 15-24 in 2012. Julianne Valdes returns after putting up 57 goals and 49 assists last year.
Wagner has a 3-1 mark after going to the Brown Invitational last weekend. The Seahawks beat Brown, Claremont Mudd Scripps and Colorado State before dropping a second match to Brown to conclude their action. Sophomore Jessica Burdge was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week after scoring 11 goals in four games.
Hartwick is 5-6 this season, having already competed in three tournaments in California. The Hawks have faced stiff competition, playing four nationally-ranked teams already.
