Rob Clinger scored two key goals in the fourth quarter at W&J Sunday.
WASHINGTON, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won two games Sunday afternoon, beating Salem International, 17-8, and Washington and Jefferson, 19-13. Both games were played at W&J.

Against the Presidents, the Lakers found themselves in a tight battle from the start. W&J took a 7-5 lead after a quarter. Mercyhurst fought back with six goals in the second period, making it 11-all at the break. The Laker defense stood tall in the second half, though, containing W&J to two goals. A five-goal performance in the fourth frame allowed the Lakers to pull away for the win.

Isaac Ogloblin led with four goals and three assists. Brett Luehmann and Rob Clinger recorded two goals and three helpers each. Garret Schoeman added two goals and two assists. Colin McDonald and Samuel Lopez each had two goals. Matt Cote made nine saves in goal.

Earlier in the day, Mercyhurst handled Salem International. It took a 6-1 lead after a period and held a 10-4 halftime advantage. Luehmann totaled three goals and two assists. Clinger contributed two goals and three assists, while Danilo Svorcan scored three times. Schoeman and Ogloblin each had two goals. Cote posted 12 saves.

The Lakers are now 11-3 this season. They have earned the top seed in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division II Championship next weekend. Mercyhurst will compete with Notre Dame College, Gannon, and Salem International at Notre Dame Saturday, October 19.
