Men's Soccer Comes From Behind to Beat Bloomsburg, 2-1

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. –The Mercyhurst University men's soccer team came from behind to beat Bloomsburg University on Saturday, 2-1.  The Lakers are undefeated in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) 2-0.  Senior Austin Solomon scored the game-winning goal with five minutes left in regulation time.

The Huskies took control of the first half scoring early when junior Anthony Manero tallied his second goal of the season, assisted by junior Theo Guillory, at the 6:49 mark.  The Lakers outshot the Huskies eight to four in the first 45 minutes, but trailed 1-0 at intermission.

Mercyhurst got even when sophomore Ryan Lund, assisted by sophomore Sam Dorf, headed the ball into the back of the net with eleven minutes left.   Then with five minutes remaining sophomore Fernando Martinez set up Solomon for the game-winning goal. 

Senior goaltender Diego Gustin squared his record at 3-3, stopping four shots against the Huskies.   Junior Ramon Lobo Jr. took the loss in net for the Huskies and is now 3-3.

The Lakers are on the road again Thursday, September 20 as they travel to Slippery Rock for a PSAC contest.
