LAKE WORTH, Fla. - The Mercyhurst baseball team scored its only two runs in their final at bat during the bottom of the eighth inning to come from behind and defeat Felician College 2-1 on Friday evening. The Lakers improved to 8-3 on the season with the victory while the Golden Falcons dropped to 4-5.
Mercyhurst trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but freshman
Kyle Hagerich got the frame going with a leadoff single through the left side of the infield. Sophomore
Anthony Tomasone was then hit by a pitch with one out, placing runners at first and second base. Freshman
Kolin McMillen drew a walk to load the bases with one out. The Lakers would then score their first run on a wild pitch, as freshman
Jake Janeczko, who reached on a fielder's choice, crossed the plate. Senior
Shane Latshaw was then hit by a pitch, loading the bases again for redshirt junior
Zak Blair, who grounded out to second, plating Tomasone to put Mercyhurst ahead 2-1.

Dan Altavilla pitched around two baserunners in the ninth inning to secure the victory for the Lakers.
The Golden Falcons would score their only run of the game in the top of the second inning against Mercyhurst starter
Eric Aschley. George Hajjar would ground out to plate Felician's only run.
Aschley scattered nine hits through seven-and-a-third innings of work for the no-decision. He walked two and struck out seven, for a team-high 17 punchouts this season. Altavilla picked up the win in relief, his second win in four appearances. He allowed two hits, while walking one and striking out three.
Brian Dudzinski was saddled with the loss for Felician, putting to waste a great start by Chet Godfrey. The Golden Falcon starter allowed three hits in six innings, while not walking a batter. He struck out four Lakers in the no-decision.
Mercyhurst will conclude its spring trip to Florida with a pair of games on Saturday. The Lakers will play University of the Sciences at 10:00 a.m. and then will take on Southern New Hampshire beginning at 1:15 p.m.
