ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Mercyhurst women's water polo team lost twice Sunday at the Wolverine Invitational. The Lakers fell, 11-8, to California Lutheran and then dropped a 14-2 decision at Michigan.
Against Lutheran, Hurst led 2-1 after one period. It took a 5-4 edge into the half. The teams each scored twice as the Lakers went into the fourth quarter with a 7-6 lead. Cal Lutheran then scored five goals to escape with a victory.
Lisett Calderon scored four goals and
Allie Grimes had two.
Kylie McCormick and
Kimberly Goodhart each added a goal.
Hope Rozelle totaled 11 saves in defeat.
In the Michigan match, Mercyhurst fell behind 4-1 after one and 8-1 at halftime. Calderon and
Bella Hersh had the goals for the Lakers.
Hurst (5-10) will play four contests next weekend. It plays Grove City College and Bucknell at Grove City on Saturday, March 24. The Lakers then face Utica and Chatham in Erie on Sunday, March 25.
