ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's water polo team travels to Orange, California, for the Chapman Invitational February 25-26. The Lakers will face Chapman and Whittier on Saturday and then take on Occidental and Cal State San Bernadino on Sunday.
The Chapman game is set for a 3 p.m. Eastern start, while the Whittier contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The Lakers take on Occidental at 12:20 p.m. and then wrap up the weekend against CSSB at 4:20 p.m.
Hurst went 1-2 on its season-opening trip to the Princeton Invitational February 11-12. It beat Villanova before dropping matches to Bucknell and Princeton.
Chapman won its first contest of the season, beating UC-Irvine, 14-9, on February 19. The Lakers defeated Chapman, 9-7, at last season's event. Whittier split its first two games of 2012, losing, 9-5, at Redlands, and beating Cal State San Bernadino, 15-10, last month. Mercyhurst won, 8-7, over the Poets last year.
Occidental is 2-2 in the early going of the season, with wins over Cal State San Bernadino and Vanguard. Cal State is 1-9 this season.
Lisett Calderon leads the Lakers with seven goals, while
Laura Perez has three goals and six steals.
Hope Rozelle has made 30 saves and three steals in net for Hurst.
