ERIE, Pa.- The #7 Mercyhurst men's water polo team will compete in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division II Eastern Championships Saturday, October 27. The event will be held at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion at Gannon University.

The Lakers went 10-0 in the CWPA Southern Division-Western Region, earning the top seed in this weekend's tournament. They will face Salem International in the first round Saturday at 11 a.m. Gannon and Notre Dame College will play in the other first round contest, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The losers of the first two matches will meet in the third place game at 3:30 p.m., with the winners squaring off for the championship at 5 p.m.
The Lakers won the tournament in 2011, defeating Salem International, 12-2, and then taking down Notre Dame College, 13-12, in the title game.
In 2012, Mercyhurst is 17-5, coming off a sweep last weekend. The Lakers beat Fordham, #7 Harvard, and Iona October 20-21.
Garret Schoeman leads the team with 95 points on 45 goals and 50 assists. He was chosen CWPA Rookie of the Week for his efforts last weekend.
Brett Luehmann has scored 69 goals, while
Isaac Ogloblin has added 24 goals and 29 assists in 14 outings.
James Owen has 33 goals, while
Alex Strong has 15 goals and 16 helpers.
The Lakers beat Salem International twice this season, by scores of 19-8 and 20-15. They have won their last 14 matches against the Tigers.
