Men's Soccer Falls Short in Late Rally; Drops to Shippensburg, 1-0

ERIE, Pa – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team dropped to Shippensburg on Tuesday afternoon, 1-0.  The Lakers outshot the Ship 13-5 in the second half rally, but could not find the back of the net.
 
The lone goal was scored at the 30:20 mark of the first half by Shippensburg midfielder, Oli Templeton.  The Lakers caused a penalty on about 20 yards out that gave Shippensburg an opportunity for a free kick.   Templeton gave his team the lead by shooting the kick on the top right corner of the net.
 
In the second half the Lakers outshot the Ship 13 to five, with six of them targeting on goal.  Mercyhurst was also awarded four corner kicks to one.
 
Senior goaltender Diego Gustin falls to 8-4-1 in net for the Lakers, making four saves on five shots.  Shippensburg goaltender Andrew Foran improves to 3-1, making ten saves.
 
The Lakers travel to California (Pa.) to take on the Vulcans on Friday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.
