Martinez Scores Two to Lead Men's Soccer to 2-0 Win Over Urbana

Box Score URBANA, Ohio – Sophomore Fernando Martinez scored both goals to lead men's soccer to a 2-0 victory over Urbana University on Saturday afternoon.  The Lakers improve to 8-4-1 in the season while Urbana drops to 7-5-1.
 
Both of the Lakers goals were scored in the second half.  Martinez's first goal was at 51:55 into the match, off of a pass back from Senior Alex Manea.  The shot blasted off the top cross bar and into the back of the net.  Martinez scored again at 78:50 when he beat the one-on-one against the keeper, and tapped it into the back of the net.
 
The Lakers outshot Urbana 12 to seven throughout the match.  Senior Alex Manea led the Lakers with four shots on net, and recorded the only assist. 
 
Senior goaltender Diego Gustin records his season record of seven shutouts, making seven saves in net.  Darragh McGinley played the entire 90:00 minutes, making two saves on four shots.
 
The Lakers will be home on Tuesday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m. against Shippensburg at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.  Shippensburg is currently 3-7-2 in the season and is 1-4-1 in the PSAC conference.
