Men's Water Polo Handles Salem International Saturday

SALEM, W. Va.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won, 20-15, at Salem International Saturday afternoon. Brett Luehmann posted five goals and Garret Schoeman recorded six assists as the Lakers secured another undefeated season in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division-West Region.

The Lakers got ahead 9-3 after one period and led 14-8 at halftime. Mercyhurst continued its pressure in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers, 5-2.

Luehmann scored five times, while Schoeman had six helpers. Colin McDonald and Dave Matulis each tallied hat tricks. Travis Pulford and Matt Cote split goalkeeping duties, with Pulford making five saves and Cote eight.

Coach Curtis Robinette's squad went 10-0 in the division in 2012 and has not lost a division game since 2007. The Lakers travel to New York for three games next weekend. They play Fordham and Harvard on October 20 and then face Iona the following day.
