ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo won twice on Saturday, beating Washington and Jefferson, 17-13, and Notre Dame College, 15-12, at Penn State Behrend.
In the first contest, the Lakers fell behind 5-3 after one quarter and 9-7 at the half. Hurst came out strongly in the second frame, totaling six goals to just one for the Presidents. Mercyhurst also won the fourth period, 4-3.
James Owen scored four times, including three in the second quarter.
Brett Luehmann contributed a hat trick, while
Danilo Svorcan,
Luis Solis, and
Alex Strong each added two scores.
In the victory over NDC, Hurst won the opening quarter, 4-3. It led 7-6 at the break before outscoring the Falcons 5-4 in a high-scoring third period. The Lakers held on with a 3-2 fourth-frame edge.
William Page scored four goals and Strong had three. Owen, Luehmann, and Svorcan each posted two scores.
Mercyhurst, now 4-0, plays at Penn State Behrend Sunday at 1 p.m.
