ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College women's water polo team closed out the regular season by defeating Bucknell, 13-10, on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion.

Rachel Griepsma prior to the game, the Lakers sent the veterans out in style with their first win over the Bison in program history.
Mercyhurst scored four times in each of the first two quarters to build an 8-4 lead at the break. Bucknell held the upper hand in the third, at 3-1, but the damage done in the first half along with a 4-3 edge in the fourth sealed the win for the designated home team.
Offensively, Griepsma led the way for Mercyhurst with a career-high 10 points on five goals and five assists. Sophomore
Lisett Calderon also hit a career mark, totaling seven points on four goals and three assists. Freshman
Rebecca Wright netted a hat trick while Nelson rounded out the out offense with one goal.
Junior
Hope Rozelle earned the win with 10 saves and four steals.
Mercyhurst will now wait to see who its opponent will be in the first game of the CWPA Eastern Championship, set for Apr. 29 – May 1 in Bloomington, Ind. Please check back at hurstathletics.com for additional details.
