LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Rachel Griepsma scored four goals to the lead the Mercyhurst College women's water polo team to an 11-9 victory over Claremont – Mudd Scripps in the season opener for Lakers at the 2011 Bucknell Invitational.

The Lakers, who move to 1-0 for the first time since opening the 2008 season with a 12-5 win over Siena, broke open a tie game with a 3-1 run through the third quarter. Both teams exchanged goals in the first and second quarters to end in ties of 3-3 and 5-5.

Junior Laura Perez and sophomore Lisett Calderon added two goals apiece, while seniors Nicole Nelson and Alyssa Katerberg and junior Laura Hennessey each found the back of the net once.

Junior Hope Rozelle earned the win in goal with 19 saves.

Mercyhurst resumes play at the Bucknell Invite on Saturday, Feb. 12 with a 9 a.m. contest against Wagner.
