Lakers Beat Notre Dame College in Sudden Death Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won two games Saturday, including a sudden death victory over Notre Dame College. The Lakers defeated Penn State Behrend, 15-0, and then took a 12-11 overtime decision from the Falcons at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Championships at Princeton University.

NDC led 5-2 after one quarter and 7-4 at the half. The Lakers slowly came back, getting within a goal late in the fourth period. Danilo Svorcan tied the contest at 10 with one second remaining in regulation.

The teams went to overtime from there, with Notre Dame getting on the board first, scoring with six seconds to play in the first extra period. Hurst answered in the second overtime, as James Owen tied the match with 1:27 left. Luis Solis had the assist.

The contest went to sudden death. Alex Strong quickly ended matters, scoring on the first possession of the third extra frame.
