ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won, 12-10, at Notre Dame (Ohio) College Sunday afternoon.
Brett Luehmann scored the last two goals of the game to give the Lakers the victory.
With the match tied at 10, Luehmann beat the Falcons' goalie with 2:36 remaining and then scored an insurance goal with 1:11 left to seal it.
Hurst led 4-2 after one quarter and 7-6 at the break. Notre Dame controlled the third frame, taking a 9-8 advantage into the final period. The visitors owned the pool late, as
James Owen tied the contest early in the fourth.
Kyle Scarry put the Lakers ahead 10-9 with five minutes to go, but the Falcons tied it soon after. Luehmann followed with his last-minute scores.
Danilo Svorcan scored four times, while
Alex Strong posted two goals and two assists.
James Owen had two goals and
Colin McDonald dished out four assists.
Kyle Scarry had a goal and two helpers.
Matt Cote picked up the win in net, making 15 saves and recording an assist.
Mercyhurst (11-4) is off until Saturday, October 15, when it travels to Cambridge, Mass., for a game against Brown.
