LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College women's water polo team dropped a 14-5 decision to Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at the 2010 Bison Invitational.

Junior Rachel Griepsma and freshman Lisett Calderon led the offense with two goals apiece, while junior Alyssa Katerberg scored once for the Lakers, who start out the season 0-1 for just the fifth time in program history.

Bucknell took control of the game with a 4-0 first quarter before taking a 4-1 lead into halftime. Mercyhurst climbed back into the game with a 2-1 scoring advantage to open the third, but an eight-goal run that spanned 8:38 put the Bison up by 10. From that point, the Lakers outscored the Bison 2-1 to close out the game.

Mercyhurst (0-1) returns to action this evening with a 7 p.m. contest against Villanova at Kinney Natatorium.
