Agosta Scores #100 in 5-1 Win Over Robert Morris

Erie, Pa. – Junior captain Meghan Agosta scored three goals, including her 100th career, to power the No. 3 Mercyhurst College women's hockey team to a 5-1 win over Robert Morris Friday evening at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. The Lakers, who improve to 22-5-0 overall and 11-0-0 in College Hockey America play, extend their winning streak to eight games and remain undefeated at home.
Agosta became the seventh player in the history of NCAA Division I women's hockey to record 100 goals in a career when she completed her hat-trick on a short-handed breakaway midway through the third period.
Mercyhurst held a commanding edge in game, outshooting the Colonials, 64-12, while converting three power-plays, including two in the first period. Sophomore Jesse Scanzano and Agosta provided the Lakers with a 2-0 lead less than seven minutes into the frame. Scanzano tallied her 22nd goal of the season at the 4:41 mark before Agosta registered her first of the game at 6:31.
The Lakers stretched the advantage to three in the second period, as Agosta knocked off the goalies' water bottle with a slap shot from the right circle at 9:21.
Robert Morris cut the deficit to two with a goal from rookie Brianna Delaney at 18:21, but back-to-back Laker scores in the third would put the game out of reach. Freshman Bailey Bram knocked home her 12th goal of the season at 2:57 while Agosta ended the scoring with her milestone marker just six and a half minutes later at 9:57.
Freshman Hillary Pattenden improved her season record to 17-2-0 with 11 saves while counterpart Brianne McLaughlin fended off 59.
Mercyhurst finished the game their highest shot total of the season and a 3-for-12 mark on the power-play. Robert Morris was 1-for-13 with the extra-man.
The Lakers entertain the Colonials again on Saturday, Feb. 14 for a 2 p.m. contest at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
