West Chester, Pa. – The No. 7 Mercyhurst men's soccer team faced overtime for the third consecutive match Saturday, and surrendered a goal during the extra session, falling 2-1 at West Chester.
The Golden Rams improve to 6-4-2, while the Lakers are now 6-2-2.
West Chester's Bryan Nugent scored an unassisted goal just before the end of the first overtime to give the Golden Rams the 2-1 victory.
After a scoreless first half,
Billy Colton opened the scoring in the 49
th minute, taking a pass from
Dean Atkins and converting it into a 1-0 Mercyhurst lead and his 10
th goal of the season.
The Golden Rams answered nearly twenty minutes later as Zac Tassone found Jabari De Coteau for the equalizing goal at 68:14.
The match remained scoreless through regulation, forcing overtime to be played.
West Chester outshot Mercyhurst 12-10 on the match, including 6-4 in shots on goal.
Colton has scored goals in four of the last five matches.
The Lakers are back in action Wednesday, playing host to PSAC West opponent California (Pa.) at 4 p.m.
