BOSTON – Atlantic Hockey America released their players of the week for the Jan. 5-11 slates of games.
Payten Evans was named the AHA Defenseman of the Week for the first time this season.
Evans was named the AHA Defenseman of the Month for December, but this is her first weekly award. In December, she recorded a six-point weekend against Lindenwood. The native of Calgary, Alberta scored a powerplay goal from the blueline and recorded a hat trick of assists all in the team's 10-1 victory. In game two of this series, the Laker's assistant captain scored another goal and assisted one on the powerplay.
Most recently, she scored the game-winning goal in a 4-3 overtime win over No. 4 Penn State and recorded eight blocks. Evans (4G, 6A, 10 PTS) leads all Laker defensemen in goals and is third among Laker defenseman in points. Her 38 total blocks are second on the team and eighth among all seniors in the nation.
