Â
How it Happened:
Mercyhurst flipped the script from yesterday. The Lakers loaded up the bases, despite recording just one hit. But they were able to bring just two runs across. The first of which came on a
Landon DiBeradin ground out and then
Eric Chorba gave the Lakers a 2-0 lead with after he scored on a wild pitch. On the other side, the Dolphins had five hits through the first three innings. But
Jacob Bazala remained electric on the mound. In the first three innings, he struck out seven batters and left seven total batters stranded.
Â
In the first four innings, Le Moyne had a 6-1 edge in hits, but they still found themselves down 2-0. The Lakers finally got their second hit of the game in the fifth inning, but they were unable to do anything with the runner. On the defensive side of things, the Lakers turned five double plays in the seven innings of action to help them hold onto the lead they took in the first frame.
Â
The Lakers got things going in the eighth inning, as they recorded three hits in the inning—which was more than they had in the previous seven innings combined. But a lineout double play closed the inning.
