Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse team capped its 2025 season in dramatic fashion, rallying from a three-goal deficit to defeat Wagner 12–11 in double overtime on Saturday afternoon at Saxon Stadium.
How It Happened
The Lakers stormed out of the gate, scoring five goals in the first quarter, including tallies from Colin Tardif, Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre, and Antonio Rossetti to build an early lead.
Wagner answered with a big second quarter, outscoring Mercyhurst 4–0 to take a 7–5 halftime advantage. The Seahawks stretched their lead to three midway through the third before the Lakers began to chip away.
Behind key goals from Ryan Mahoney, Ethan Landymore, and Chase Petschke, Mercyhurst pulled within two entering the fourth.
The Lakers tied the game late in regulation with back-to-back goals from Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre and Colin Tardif, with Tardif's goal coming with just 11 seconds remaining to force overtime.
After a scoreless first OT, Chase Petschke completed his hat trick with the game-winner at 2:12 of double overtime, securing Mercyhurst's first NEC win.
