Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst evened up their series with Wagner today with a 3-2 win that featured
Chris Juchno scoring on a passed ball to claim the victory. The Lakers are now 7-6 at home this season and have won at least one game in every series they've played at home.
Â
How it Happened:
The Lakers got on the board first in the second inning. Thanks in a large part to
Jayden Walker, who hit his third double of the series so far to lead off the inning. Walker crossed the plate on a
Ranciel Ventura groundout to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead. Once again though, the Seahawks fought back with their deep lineup. Joseph Mennella hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Diego Tavarez and tie the game at one. In the fifth inning, they took the lead with a Nicholas Mazzotta RBI double.
Â
With just seven outs left, the Lakers tied things up at two with an
Ethan Adams RBI ground out. The Lakers had an opportunity to take the lead in the eighth after they loaded the bases up. But Wagner was able to close out the inning by striking out Ventura. The Seahawks recorded just two more hits in the game before
Chris Juchno and Joey Trivisonno hit singles in the 10
th inning. Juchno then ended the game after he advanced 90 feet from third base to home to clinch the Lakers first ever win over Wagner.
Jacob Bazala had a great day that ended in a no decision. He went nine innings and struck out six batters.Â
