Teaneck, NJ.- Mercyhurst fell in game three of their series against FDU 18-15. It's the second straight NEC series that the Lakers have won the opening game but then lost the ensuing two games.
Ethan Adams recorded five RBIs in the game and
Jayden Walker remained hot as well after he hit the Lakers second grand slam of the series.
Â
How it Happened:
Johnathan Gomez and Diego Urreta stayed hot on Saturday. The duo helped FDU jump out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of RBI singles. Before the Lakers could get out of the first inning, Jimmy Mantuano drove in Gomez and Urreta to make it 4-0. The Lakers cut that lead in half to kick off the second inning with a two-run homer from
Ranciel Ventura. But the Knights answered with a pair of home runs from Hunter Ray and Gomez in the bottom portion of the inning. JR Bozek hit the Knights third homer of the game in the third inning to make it 8-2 as they continued to hit well off of the Lakers. In the fourth, FDU hit their fourth and fifth long balls of the day after Gomez hit his second and Jeremy Cheeseman each hit solo home runs.
Â
The Lakers chipped into the lead in the fifth inning.
Landon DiBeradin continued his hot weekend with a two RBI triple to make it a six run ball game. But any time Mercyhurst made a dent, the Knights would answer back. In the bottom of the inning, Urreta added an RBI on a walk and then Cheeseman hit a two RBI single.
Jayden Walker cut the lead down with the Lakers second grand slam of the weekend though. FDU once again answered though. This time they got back all four runs. The Lakers drew a little closer in the eighth with a two RBI double from
Ethan Adams. They had one more shot in the ninth inning and nearly tied the game. Joey Trivisonno hit a homer,
Jack Malec hit an RBI double and Adams hit a three run homer. But the FDU lead was too much to overcome. They eventually closed things out to secure the 18-15 win.
