Box Score Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst closed out the home portion of their schedule with a thrilling 10-9 overtime victory over Augustana Thursday night. The Lakers officially finish with a home record of 4-1 and scored 73 goals over those five games.
How it Happened:
Allie Dombkowski got things going for the Lakers after she gave them a 1-0 lead in the first quarter. Molly Landridge added to the lead before Augustana finally got on the board. But a
Bri Allstun goal helped Mercyhurst go into halftime with a 3-2 lead. In the third, goals came fast and furious. Dombkowski netted her second goal of the game and
Krista Domaracki tacked on another, but the Vikings were able to tie things up at five before the third quarter closed. Mercyhurst was able to take back the lead with a trio of goals in the fourth from Dombkowski,
Grace Brzyski and
Marley Hanlon. But the lead was short lived as Anais Jones helped to tie the game at eight and force overtime. In the extra period, with the help of Hanlon and
Grace Tirak, the Lakers sealed a 10-9 victory.
Next Game:
The Lakers will be back on the road this weekend for the Princeton Invitational. They'll play Harvard, Brown and Princeton. Action kicks off on at Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
