New Britain, Conn.- Mercyhurst dropped the second game of their three-game series against Central Connecticut 12-2 on Saturday afternoon. It's now the third game in a row that's only went seven innings for the Lakers. It leaves the Lakers looking to avoid the sweep tomorrow in final game of the series.

How it Happened:
The reigning NEC Pitcher of the Week,
Daniel Thomas, took the mound for Mercyhurst. But much like yesterday, the Blue Devils didn't care who was pitching. In the bottom of the first inning, Chris Brown drove in the first run of the game with a double to left field. Bo Yaworski then grounded out to first base, but the second run of the inning scored to give CCSU a quick 2-0 lead. Antonio Ducatelli then closed the inning with an RBI single before Thomas could get out of things. The Lakers didn't earn their first hit of the day until
Chris Juchno hit a single in the top of the third. But there wasn't another run put on the board until the bottom of the fourth when CCSU once again surged. They had six hits in the inning, with five of those being singles. But it was enough to bat in five runs and give themselves an 8-0 edge.

The Lakers finally broke through in the sixth inning when
Jayden Walker drove in
Aaron Keating.
Ranciel Ventura then hit a sacrifice fly to bring in
Eric Chorba to cut the game to 8-2. But the Blue Devils answered in the sixth with four runs. Yaworski hit a ground rule double then drive in two runs. The next batter Ducatelli hit a two RBI sac fly, which kicked in the mercy rule for the second straight day.

Next Match:
The Lakers will aim to steal game three and avoid getting swept at noon tomorrow. All the action can be caught on the NEC Front Row.
